The first course runs June 9 -13, 2025, and is an introduction to the Science of Reading. The content is rooted in Duke and Cartwright's Active View of Reading. The course has three pathways: Early (grades K-3), Intermediate (Grades 4-8), and Adolescent (Grades 9-12).

The second course runs June 23-28 and is on Fundamentals of Teaching Literacy. This course explores explicit instruction, cultivating a community or learners, and culturally relevant pedagogy. This course is a good fit for beginning teachers, those who support new teachers, and those looking for new strategies to apply to classroom practice.

The courses were designed by a team at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Through these courses, you will learn alongside like-minded educators from across the state of Missouri and explore strategies for your classroom that support literacy and enhance growth. Join our learning management platform called Participate, so that you can enroll in the courses when they Pop-Up! You can take either course or both for free, funded by the Missouri CLSD grant.
