Connecting educators in the western Missouri and Kansas City region
About Us
The KC region of the Show Me Literacies Collaborative is housed at the University of Central Missouri and works in conjunction with the Greater Kansas City Writing Project. Our team provides responsive professional development and support for developing literacy plans tailored to each school. We model an assets-based, culturally responsive approach to teaching and learning.

Our partnership with UCM
The University of Central Missouri offers two graduate programs particularly relevant for our CLSD participating teachers. The MSE in Literacy Education (35 hours) is the pathway for certified elementary, middle or high school teachers to earn the Special Reading Certification with fully online and hybrid classes. The Graduate Certificate in Teaching Writing (18 hours) offers advanced knowledge of the teaching of literacy, develops practicing educators’ skills as teachers and writers, and promotes teacher leadership in a supportive learning community. Contact Katie Kline kkline@ucmo.edu for additional program information.
