Show Me Literacies Collaborative
Supporting language and literacy development for Missouri learners, birth through college
Advancing literacy education and supporting teachers in Missouri
We are working to advance literacy education research and provide direct support and outreach to PreK-12 teachers and their students across the state of Missouri. The Collaborative includes literacy experts from the Missouri Writing Project Network (UMSL, Mizzou and UCM) and the Missouri Language and Literacies Center at the University of Missouri.
Serving Missouri Area Career Centers Through Literacy that Works
Our four-year professional learning cohort model welcomes Career Tech educators from diverse backgrounds to study and implement evidence-based literacy strategies and routines relevant to their classrooms. Participants will field test formative and summative writing assessments and collaborate with colleagues around the state to enhance their own teaching.

Literacy Action Plans
We support literacy teams at grant schools in writing literacy actions plans. Our approach to literacy plan design supports teachers through sustained professional learning around co-constructed goals and initiates an iterative process of inquiry, revision, and growth. This collaborative and responsive design for creating literacy action plans paired with the complexity of literacy can lead to an unpredictable and messy process. Thus, we used the principles shown here to guide this important work in schools.
